The critical accolades had become to sound pretty hollow as had the never ending offers to “get my foot in the door” from evil industry types - I now had a family of snapping mouths to feed and felt wretched at the lonely prospect of making another record which no-one would play. Enter my good friend Mr Dan Creighton – himself undergoing some sort of primal metamorphosis in Scotland when he started sending me a steady stream of his short stories and poems which eventually became ‘Doomsday Piano’ I must admit to being pessimistic about the possibility of a songwriting collaboration as I felt sure it was an invitation for compromise but I will let the results speak for themselves and only add that it was one of the most enjoyable artistic experiences I've had."
